As a general rule of thumb, if the cornice board is going over a pleated shade, drape, or blind, add 3 inches to the width of the cornice. Example: The cornice is to fit over a drape and the rod size for the drape is 78 inches, add 3 inches to that measurement so the final measurement will be 81 inches wide.
